ReImagining Image: Installed!

See it from the street (on SE Division, just west of SE 12th)! Portland's pushdot studio has installed a lovely show featuring my original artwork and reproduction prints created from my work by the digital artists at pushdot. Introducing: reproductions on fabric (below left) and larger-scale prints on bamboo paper (see in person for full effect). Smaller-scale prints are presented on Plywerk bamboo panels (below right) and unframed prints on bamboo paper are also available.
Images from the show are {here}. To purchase or inquire about available artwork, please contact me at info@theresemurdza.com.

Gallery hours and more information about the show are {here}. Portland-local (and out-of-state guests!), please join us for the artist party September 2, 2011 (September First Friday) 6P-9P.
PS: my collaboration with pushdot exemplifies pushdotʼs mission to work with and promote local artists, and it also marks their first show featuring a fellow Ford Building tenant.

Stephen King

watercolor detail + watercolor detail with filter; study for fabric panels
My imagination is way too vivid to read much by author Stephen King (save for a 4ever love of Lisey's Story), but i'm mentored by his disciplined writing practice that's taking him well into early older age.

In a recent interview in The Atlantic, he talks about the process of creating: "...I don't outline, I just have a vague notion. So it's always felt like less of a made thing and more of a found thing. That's exciting. That's a thrill."

i also have only a vague notion before i paint. finding flowers on paper + canvas these days has me making studies in preparation for high-quality prints on paper and textiles/fabric. i'll have some of these new prints for sale at Luke's Frame Shop in May. available online, soon, too.
